DESCRIBED BY HENLEY FESTIVAL AS 'A VERY SPECIAL PROJECT', MR JAMES' GARDEN CELEBRATES MUSIC, SCULPTURE AND ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FASCINATING GARDENS - THE SURREALIST LAS POZAS IN MEXICO, CREATED BY Mr EDWARD JAMES, A 20TH CENTURY'S PHILANTHROPIST AND SOMETIME OWNER OF WEST DEAN HOUSE IN WEST SUSSEX.
Following an introduction to Edward James, this exciting promenade concert created by Ann Martin-Davis takes in newly commissioned works by three of Mexico's most prestigious artists based on ravishing classical works by Debussy, Marquez and John Ireland. Each sculpture is placed within a magical space with soloists Ann Martin-Davis (piano), Angel Padilla (harp) and Susan Legg (mezzo-soprano), creating an intimate journey in three parts through the garden of water, the garden of the earth and the garden of life.
"..from my perspective it was a real highlight in my career that has happily had a good number of highlights"
Stewart Collins, award winning Artistic Director of the Henley and Petworth Festivals
